The faces behind

Shearman Livestock & Contracting.

Drew Shearman

I am the owner of Shearman Livestock and Contracting and have been running this business now for over 13 years. It all started after I studied at Tocal Agricultural College in 2004 – 2005 and by wanting to put my skills and knowledge into practice to help small land holders and hobby farmers’ care for their farms and livestock.

Things began small, and after purchasing a shearing plant to shear all of the neighbors sheep word spread and in a matter of no time there were 100’s of sheep and alpacas on the waiting list! I now has over 5 shearing machines ready to run at all times and has a wide range of different equipment for all types of shearing jobs.

With a background in the rural merchandise/ retail industry I have an excellent understanding of the latest animal husbandry products on the market as well as many years experience in applying these products from working on the family farm and various properties throughout New South Wales.

Over the years the business has grown and we now offer a range of services from shearing to butchering right through to contract shooting and pest control.

If you have any questions or enquiries about any of the services offered be sure to get in touch and I will help you out in any way I can.

Kate Shearman

If you had to describe Kate in one word it would be versatile. In a little under two years she learnt to shear, drench, inject, tag, muster and the list goes on and on. She is always enthusiastic and willing to take on new challenges.

Kate works full time outside of the business and helps out on her days off work. She is the one that makes all the important phone calls when I am busy shearing or on the road.

On any given day her role may change from nurse to administration officer and ever backup shearer!

Kate is always looking to improve on her skills and knowledge, spending a lot of time studying to learn more about livestock management and property maintenance and improvement.

In December 2014 she completed her studies to become a wool classer and on top of this she is also training to become a professional shooter.

Ivy Shearman

Ivy is the latest addition to our rather small team. Already at just 18 months old she has helped mum and dad in various shearing sheds and farms across the state.

Her specialty is sweeping and she will race for a broom as soon as she finds one.

She also enjoys picking things up and hiding them so mum and dad have to send out a search party to locate them.

She has a natural love for animals and even from only a few months old has handled them with care and is always ever so gentle. Her favourite however is Livingstone the alpaca (pictured). They could spend hours cuddling and chasing each other around the paddock.

We are looking forward to see her pick up the handpiece in a few years and have a go for herself.
